Finished the first 2 episodes now. Its not build up like a movie but as a tv mini series. All with cliffhangers at the end of each episodes. And each episode starts with an "Previously on Alan Wake".
Two pop culture refernces so far. The very first line of the game surprised me. All I say is; the name Stephen King falls.
The presentation of the game is phenomenal and yes its actually scary! The action sequences even have a small tactical element to them.
It features a rather metaphysical story and I really hope they keep up the good work.
As of now I'm more than satisfied as it delievers everything Heavy Rain failed at.
It really feels like someone gave a Stephen King script to David Lynch for revisions and then it was turned into a mini series.

The whole atmospeher is amazing. The entity reminds me so much of Lost smoke monster. Its a really chilling game.
Here is the Gametrailers.com review. Don't understand why they complain about the story; especially after praising the inane shitfest that was Heavy Rain.

I wouldn't really classify it as an psychological thriller though. Its an horror survival game like Silent Hill but much more action orientated.
Its a great story that borders on brilliant writing only denied by the fact that they didn't care so much about the characters.
It was funny in places, very witty in others and overall neatly scary, otherworldly weird and surprisingly metaphysical.
And as every good tv series its open ended. Some might say its a rather weak ending after such a huge and powerfull build-up but I disagree. The main issue of the story is solved but the ovarall arc leaves space for the already anounced 2 DLC episodes. A voucher code for the first new episode that "airs" in June 2010 is part of the limited edition.
My favorite moment of the game...
Your reach a warehouse where you can turn on a radio. If you do that you fight a horde of Taken to this tune.
In fact.....I think it was my favorite video game moment of all time!!!
Presentation: 9,5
Audio: 9,5
Gameplay: 8,5
Story: 8,5
Overall Score: 9,0

Remedy said that if the sales figures are good enough (and they will be!!!) we'll get a 2nd season.
Don't know if the 2 DLC episodes are Season 2 material though.
